It looks like Tarantino has rubbed off on The RZA. A rumor has been floating around the interwebs about a possible Eli Roth/The RZA martial arts collaboration, and movie blog Chud emailed Roth to get the straight dope. Roth confirmed the development of the movie, titled The Man with the Iron Fist, which The RZA both wrote and will direct, with Roth coming on as a producer.
It's apparent Roth thinks The RZA is going to have some talent behind the camera, calling the movie "
everything martial arts fans could want". You can get the complete quote, and Chuds two cents on the movie
here.
Along with being a prominent member of the martial arts themed hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, the RZA collaborated with QT on the soundtracks for Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2. It's likely that this participation further influenced his decision to jump into the movie business.
